Delphia

Delphia

Delphia is a community-powered robo investor built on top of an evergreen data pool contributed by Delphia users.

I worked with Delphia as a mid-level Product Designer for 3 months on the growth and core experience team before the company's priorities shifted and my position was eliminated.

My team consisted of 5 engineers, 1 product manager, and 1 senior product designer. During this time, I was responsible for leading the team on research-focused projects including continuous user research and a research discovery project aimed at identifying user problems in areas of security, trust, and community. Solving these problems were considered pivotal for our growth strategy and retention goals.

In this role I grew my leadership, UX research, and strategy skills - connecting research initiatives with tangible project strategy and execution

Continuous User Research

Continuous User Research

I led 30 minute generative user interviews on Thursdays every week to keep a pulse on user problems and goals. I was responsible for leading the discussion, taking notes, and documenting the session results in Dovetail.

Company wide shoutout

"Josh has been on the team for only a few weeks and has been making an impact in multiple areas at Delphia. Every Thursday, the Growth ream conducts a user interview which he has taken full ownership of. Since taking it over, he's made improvements to our discussion guide, refined our research plan, and added debrief time into the interview process… we've had great discussions on our learnings and takeaways."

Discovery Research

Discovery Research

To inform future design efforts for the growth team, I designed and executed a discovery research plan which included a typeform survey, 12 user interviews, and a discovery readout.

The research led to multiple new problem areas that affected our goal of user retention and the number of users who share the app. These problems areas included concerns about security and trust in the financial sector.

My discovery readout successfully led to new design projects and dev tickets.

I don't have visuals but would love to chat more about what the research operations and readout entailed.

Product Strategy

Product Strategy

I worked with my team to generate quarterly strategies, take account of resources, and assess and mitigate risk. These sessions involved brainstorming and compromising with the team to prioritize high-value goals and activities that we could complete in the quarter.

Summary

Summary

I collaborated across the company to enable and deliver research projects that supported design and development for the growth and core experience team.

During my time at Delphia, I met a lot of smart people and got the opportunity to explore what security and trust means to users in a highly regulated financial experience.
